Notre Dame sees one of its captain starters declare for the NFL draft
Notre Dame football took another hit to its 2026 roster, with another starter has opting to leave early and play his next snaps in the NFL.
Junior captain Aamil Wagner, a multi-year starter for the Irish declared for the draft on Saturday morning, ending a very impressive career in South Bend. The fourth-year junior took a redshirt his first season and then has been a staple in the offensive line rotation over the last three seasons.
Wagner cracked the starting lineup during in 2024 and continued his impressive play through this fall. While he still had one season left of eligibility, after spending four total seasons in South Bend, it was time to move on.
At the moment he’s viewed as a later round pick according to The Draft Network, with room to move up on teams boards. We wish Aamil the best of luck in the NFL, as we’ll be rooting for his success at the next level.
