'Odds are increasing' that Aaron Rodgers will return to the Steelers

He's not playing in Super Bowl 60, but on days when all eyes are on the NFL, you can usually place pretty solid odds that a story involving Aaron Rodgers will surface.

According to reports, a reunion with current Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy appears to be something both sides are more than interested in.

NFL Network reporter Tom Pelisserio said Sunday, Feb. 8 that the "odds are increasing" that Rodgers will return for a second season with the Steelers.

After being hired to replace Mike Tomlin as Steelers head coach last month, McCarthy said he would be interested in Rodgers coming back to play. The duo had a 108-62-1 record and one Super Bowl title while McCarthy was coaching the Packers from 2006 to 2018.

In his first year with the Steelers, Rodgers threw for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while leading his team to an AFC North division title. Rodgers would need a new contact if he decided to continue playing. He signed a one-year, $13.5 million contract last season.

Backup Mason Rudolph and rookie Will Howard are the only two quarterbacks currently on the Steelers' roster, so the opportunity for Rodgers to start a 22nd NFL season 2026 at age 42 is in play.
