Oklahoma up to No. 14 in Coaches Poll

Fresh off a series win on the road at Vanderbilt, the Oklahoma baseball team found itself climbing in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll on Monday.

OU jumped four spots to No. 14 after taking two of three from the Commodores. The 14th spot places the Sooners as the sixth-highest-ranked team in the poll out of the Southeastern Conference. In the standings, Oklahoma is tied for ninth alongside Vandy, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Tennessee. None of those teams were ranked higher than the Sooners on Monday.

Texas held its spot as the highest-ranked SEC team, checking at No. 4 in the most recent poll. The Longhorns dropped two spots, however, after losing both games against Texas A&M on the weekend. The finale between the teams was cancelled because of weather. The Aggies, on the other hand, jumped eight spots, going from No. 15 to No. 7.

Georgia held more or less tight, dropping one spot to No. 5 while Auburn ranked just outside of the Top 10 at No. 11.

The biggest upward movers in the SEC were Arkansas and Florida, which went up five and six spots, respectively, to No. 17 and No. 18. Mississippi State dropped eight spots, out of the top 10 to No. 16, and Alabama went down four spots to No. 13. Ole Miss at No. 23 provided the SEC with 10 ranked teams. Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and LSU all picked up votes for the Top 25, but did not make the cut.

The Sooners are back in action Tuesday in Tulsa against Oklahoma State before hosting Missouri in Norman for a three-game set starting Friday.
