Oklahoma's Kasidi Pickering and Kai Minor each took home SEC awards

Oklahoma freshman Kai Minor was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week and junior Kasidi Pickering took home SEC Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.

The Sooners beat Montana, New Mexico State, Minnesota, Idaho State and Texas-El Paso last week by a combined score of 91-9 as Oklahoma went west for the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and the Dr. Diana Natalicio Memorial Tournament in El Paso.

Pickering went off, going 10 for 12 with three home runs, 11 RBIs, 13 runs and six walks. Against the Miners, she clubbed three doubles in the 34-0 win, tying the school record for doubles in a game. Minor was nearly as good, going 9 for 13 with two home runs, nine RBIs, seven runs, three doubles and a triple. She scored at least one run in each of the five games.

All together, the Sooners are hitting .462 with 38 home runs, 124 RBIs and 125 in nine games. Their only loss came in the second game of the season against Arizona and Oklahoma still ultimately won that series. Patty Gasso's team stayed at No. 4 in the Softball America poll released Monday, as well.

Oklahoma is on the road again this week, out to California for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. OU will play Cal State-Fullerton, San Diego State, Long Beach State, California-Berkely, Duke and Washington.
