Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has issued a stern warning to his players about Manchester United, as he revealed the most impressive thing from the Red Devils’ victory over Everton on Monday evening.

Unbeaten run

United will host Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday, with the club eager to register back-to-back victories, having beaten Everton earlier this week.

Benjamin Sesko scored the only goal of the evening to secure all three points for United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

United have are currently on an unbeaten streak of six games since Carrick was named as Ruben Amorim’s temporary replacement. United have won five games in that run, only dropping points in the 1-1 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium.

Aston Villa losing to relegation battlers Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday evening means that United have the chance to jump to third place in the Premier League table if they beat Palace.

Ahead of the fixture, Glasner spoke to reporters and warned his players about the good balance of experience and talent that United possess. Glasner also revealed that he will rely on the speed and physicality of his defenders to neutralise United’s attack.

Glasner remarks

The Austrian coach said [as quoted by United’s official website], “We need confidence at Old Trafford. I watched their game Monday night at Everton. It was a fantastic transition goal [from Sesko], and you can see the pace they have in their attack.”

“On the other side, I also have seen that Everton caused them some problems, so I’m looking forward to Old Trafford. Of course, when Man United play at home at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace, it’s the same: everybody there is expecting a win.”

“Again, they are a very good team, they have a very good balance. It’s a very experienced team. When I see Luke Shaw, when I see Harry Maguire, when I see Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo – really very, very experienced Premier League players.”

He continued, “And then I see [Amad] Diallo, I see Kobbie Mainoo – very, very young players with huge talent. It’s a good mix they have now but I think the most important thing, for them, is they are consistently playing with their team and have a clear structure in the way they are playing.”

“So this is what I could see against Everton and they have a great spirit right now, as I mentioned. For me, it was really impressive seeing Matheus Cunha celebrating winning a duel in their own box, because I think this is what Michael Carrick brought into his team.”

Glasner said that defender Maxence Lacroix is expected to be fit enough to feature against United.

Asked about Lacroix, the Palace gaffer answered, “That’s the big question. I don’t know but hopefully the goal helps a little bit! [He scored the opener on Thursday night at Selhurst Park]. He did very well. Also defending was important, having him, also Jaydee [Canvot] played a very good game today and we needed his pace because they’re quick up front.”

“They will be the same at Manchester – they’re so quick in their attack and then we need quick defenders, physically strong defenders. Right now, it looks okay but let’s see how the reaction is.”

Palace vs. United kicks off at 2pm.
