Packers lose CB Keisean Nixon to stinger vs. Vikings
A freak play along the sideline injured Green Bay Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon, who will miss the rest of Sunday's showdown with the Minnesota Vikings. Coming out of half time, the Packers ruled out Nixon for the rest of the game with a stinger injury.
Nixon was injured while chasing Justin Jefferson out of bounds. He collided with defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt -- running near full speed -- along the sideline and immediately went down in pain.
Wyatt has over a 100 pounds on Nixon, and the physics of the collision meant Nixon went down hard.
Without Nixon and Nate Hobbs, the Packers inserted Kamal Hadden into the game at perimeter cornerback. Hadden, a second-year cornerback who spent last year on the practice squad, had not played a single snap on defense this season.
Bo Melton is also available at cornerback.
The injury could have implications for next week. The Packers have a quick turnaround before playing the Detroit Lions -- and receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams -- on Thursday in Detroit. Nixon will have only a few days to recover in time to play. For reference, Quay Walker suffered a stinger in New York last Sunday and was not able to play against the Vikings.
