Packers to sign cornerback Benjamin St-Juste

GREEN BAY − After the 2025 season, Brian Gutekunst made clear one of his top priorities was adding cornerback depth in the Green Bay Packers secondary.

Gutekunst started that process on the second day of legal tampering in the NFL, agreeing to terms on a two-year, $10 million contract with veteran cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, a source confirmed to PackersNews. The deal was first reported by NFL Network and is worth up to $10.5 million and brings a seasoned corner with tremendous size into the Packers secondary.

A third-round draft pick in 2021 by the Washington Commanders, St-Juste signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Los Angles Chargers in last year’s free agency. He’s started 47 of 70 games played in the past five seasons, all but two with the Commanders. St-Juste played 356 snaps last season, mostly providing depth in the Chargers secondary.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound corner will at least have a chance to start for a Packers defense with a void on the perimeter. The Packers likely have one starting spot settled with Keisean Nixon, but Gutekunst spoke after last season of adding competition. It’s uncertain if the Packers will pay a $6.25 million roster bonus this week to Nate Hobbs, who they added in free agency last year. If they do, St-Juste would compete with Hobbs, incumbent starter Carrington Valentine and whoever the team drafts this spring for the starting spot.

St-Juste is not the ballhawk the Packers need at corner, arriving with just two career interceptions, though one came last year. He added seven defended passes in 2025 and has 41 in his career. Importantly, given their injury issues with Hobbs last season, St-Juste had played at least 16 games each of the past three seasons.
