Paige Bueckers’ heartwarming reaction to Azzi Fudd reunion with Dallas Wings

History was made at the 2026 WNBA Draft in New York City on Monday night, when the Dallas Wings selected former UConn women’s basketball star Azzi Fudd with the No. 1 overall pick.

Fudd’s former teammates were all in attendance to show their support for the All-American guard and 2025 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player on her big day, including reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers.

Bueckers and Fudd, who previously confirmed they are dating, will now aim to win another championship together.

Not only was the Dallas reunion a special one for personal reasons, but it made draft history. It marked the first time that college teammates were selected No. 1 overall in consecutive drafts.

It was the second time that UConn teammates were drafted No. 1 overall in back-to-back years.

We will get our first look at Bueckers and Fudd back on the court together on Thursday, April 30, when they travel to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to take on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Just nine days later, the two women will play in their first WNBA regular season together when they run it back against the Fever on Saturday, May 9. It’s going to be exciting to see what the duo can do together in their second stint as teammates.
