Panthers shut down WR Xavier Legette at Wednesday's practice

The already tumultuous 2025 campaign of Carolina Panthers wideout Xavier Legette might've taken another bad turn.

Legette popped up on Wednesday's injury report as a limited participant from practice. Head coach Dave Canales talked about the second-year receiver's outlook for this week.

"So, as a precaution, he just had some hamstring soreness," Canales told reporters after the session. "He started off the practice and he got through the individual part of it, and we just thought it was smart to kinda shut him down for the day. We'll reevaluate him and see where we're at tomorrow."

Defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton (hamstring) and outside linebacker Pat Jones II (ankle) were both listed as non-participants.

Wharton tweaked his hamstring in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not play in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The sixth-year defender, who is expected to miss a few weeks due to the setback, was seen with a helmet and worked off to the side this afternoon.

Jones II injured his ankle in the Week 2 defeat, where he recorded four tackles and a pair of pressures.

Here's today's full injury report from the Panthers:

  • DT Tershawn Wharton (Hamstring) | Wednesday: DNP
  • OLB Pat Jones II (Ankle) | Wednesday: DNP
  • WR Xavier Legette (Hamstring) | Wednesday: Limited
  • WR Brycen Tremayne (Hamstring) | Wednesday: Full
