Pittsburgh Pirates Issue Statement on Fan Who Fell From 21-Foot High Wall Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Pirates hosted the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, knocking off their National League Central rivals by a score of 4-3 to move to 12-19 on the season.

The Pirates' big win over the Cubs, who fell to 18-13 on the season, was not entirely positive as a scary scene unfolded at the Roberto Clemente wall in right field of PNC Park in downtown Pittsburgh.

The fan fell from a 21-foot tall wall that is that exact height in memoriam of Robert Clemente, the Pirates' legendary right fielder.

An update came in after tensions rose in Pittsburgh as the fan was tended to following their fall from the stands.

The Pirates issued the following statement as more information became available.

"Tonight, during the seventh inning of the game at PNC Park, an adult male fell from the right field bleachers onto the field of play.

Pittsburgh EMS, as well as the Pirates and Cubs athletic training teams and other PNC Park personnel reacted and responded immediately and administerted care.

He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital.

"No further information is available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
