The New England Patriots are in the market for a wide receiver, and one potential fit could also be a great fit for the Miami Dolphins.
The Patriots are releasing Stefon Diggs at the start of the new league year and will need to replace him. They have reportedly been trying to trade for A.J. Brown and are also reportedly interested in Alec Pierce. What happens if the Patriots cannot land either of them?
They would need to pivot to other options. Romeo Doubs of the Green Bay Packers would be a solid fit. He could be cheap and is young. However, the New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy predicted he would sign with the Dolphins.
The Dolphins hired Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley from the Packers this offseason. They need a wide receiver as well, and the familiarity with Doubs could make him one of their top targets. Doubs could shine on a team where the offense feeds him more than the Packers did. The Packers had a deep receiving corps, and the offensive philosophy was to spread the ball.
"Scored 21 touchdowns on 202 career catches (including career-high 59 in 2025) in a deep receiver corps," Dunleavy wrote of Doubs. "Equally effective outside the numbers or over the middle."
The Dolphins still need a quarterback, and Malik Willis is rumored to be their top choice. He and Doubs joining the Dolphins together could make them a sneaky threat to the Patriots in Year 1 of a new regime.
