BASEBALL
Warsaw 12, Concord 2
Warsaw beat Concord in seven innings to lock up the conference title in Dunlap on Monday. Alex Kridler was 2-of-4 for the Minutemen as the three-man rotation couldn’t hold the Tigers off the board. Concord is now 8-13, 4-9 NLC.
Fairfield 3, Eastside 2
Fairfield knocked off Eastside in a rescheduled game in Fort Wayne at the home of the Tincaps on Monday. Grady Chupp and Matthew Senn both drove in runs while the Falcons split up five hits across the lineup. Hunter Kauffman picthed his way to a victory, throwing over five innings and surrendering two unearned runs while striking out six. Fairfield has now won nine straight and are 16-6, 6-2.
Goshen 5, Wawasee 1
Goshen evened its record to 9-9 and 6-6 NLC with a win over Wawasee on Monday. The RedHawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead before needing to score four in the final two innings to avoid the upset. Jaxon Miller was 3-of-4 as was Kyan Miller for the RedHawks. Braxton Cline drove in three runs with two doubles and starter Bray Hoag struck out 12 batters in a complete-game showing. Wawasee’s Kyhan Heisler drove in the Warriors lone run. Wawasee is now 2-19, 0-13 NLC.
Northridge 2, Mishawaka 0
Braxton Nagy improved to 7-0 on the year on the mound with a shutout, three-hit performance against Mishawaka in Middlebury on Monday. Nagy threw a complete game on the mound, walking one and striking out four as his team’s two hits (from Brody Wood and Breckan Gawthrop) were enough to get the Raiders the win. Northridge is now 14-9, 9-4 NLC and has locked up at least a share of second in the conference.
Plymouth 5, NorthWood 1
NorthWood dropped to 13-10 and 5-7 NLC with a loss to Plymouth on Monday in the road. Connor Reed scored the Panthers run while Nate Dutkowski was 3-of-4 and drove in Reed.
SOFTBALL
Concord 7, Warsaw 5
Concord avoided being upset on the road on Monday, securing a win over Warsaw. The Tigers matched the Minutemen in each inning except for a two-run fourth that put the Minutemen in front 6-4. Cassi Reames knocked out two home runs and drove in four runs to continue her superb season at the plate. Concord is now 14-10, 7-6 NLC.
Goshen 7, Wawasee 4
Goshen broke a losing streak and upset Wawasee at home on Monday. The RedHawks scored six early runs to take a 6-1 lead after two innings and would be held the rest of the way. Abi Blankenship starred for the RedHawks by going 3-of-4 at the plate and hitting a pair of triples. Blankenship also threw seven innings, allowing 11 hits and three-earned runs while walking just one and striking out three. Goshen is now 5-16, 2-11 NLC while Wawasee falls to 6-18, 4-9 NLC.
Northridge 5, Mishawaka 4
Addi Knisley and Willow Staley both drove in two runs with a pair of hits each in a comeback win on the road over Mishawaka. The win for the Raiders put them in a tie for first with the Cavemen with just one conference game remaining. In Monday’s win, Northridge scored all five of its runs in the seventh inning as Knisley turned around a loss in the circle into a win. Northridge is 13-8, 11-2 NLC.
NorthWood 16, Plymouth 6 (6 innings)
NorthWood won walked it off at home with two runs in the sixth to earn a conference win over Plumouth Monday. Ana Beachy hit two pitches out and drove in six runs while going 2-of-4 at the plate while Payton Sears was 2-of-4 with four runs driven in. Taryn Marcum also hit a home run. Beachy earned the win in the circle. NorthWood is now 13-7, 9-4 NLC.
Westview 6, Elkhart Christian 2
Westview earned a home win over Elkhart Christian to improve to 10-8 on the season. Briana Kaufman and Ella Williams both earned two hits and drove in a run for the Warriors while Williams punched out 11 on the mound in a complete-game performance.
BOYS GOLF
Mishawaka Marian 169, Concord 169, Jimtown 193
Concord split a matchup with Mishawaka Marian and Jimtown due to a fifth-person tiebreaker on Monday. Nathan Potter shot 40 to lead Concord, now 5-12 on the season.
Fairfield 158, Garrett 180, West Noble 193
Fairfield earned two more wins to close out the NECC regular season on Monday. Brayden Miller led the Falcons with a 34. Fairfield is now 15-3, 9-1 NECC.
Bob Turner Classic
Warsaw won the Bob Turner Classic hosted at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club on Monday. The Tigers shot 301 as a team while NorthWood turned in a score of 347 with Micah Schwartz shooting 81 to lead the Panthers.
GIRLS TENNIS
Bethany Christian 5, Elkhart 0
Bethany Christian improved to 8-6 with a nonconference win over Jimtown on Monday. The only court to go to three sets was Brianna Moser at No. 1 singles, winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Fairfield 5, Concord 0
Fairfield made quick work of Concord on Monday to improve to 10-4. The Falcons won all matches in straight sets except for No. 2 doubles were the pair of Lauren Troyer and Greta Hochstetler won 6-7, 6-3, 10-5.
