Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris might have just done more for running back Bijan Robinson than his agent ever could.
Robinson is off to a red-hot start to the season. The Falcons rusher tallied 100 yards receiving in Week 1 and then followed that up with a 143-yard performance on the ground in Week 2.
Safe to say, he's a huge reason why the Falcons are 1-1.
On Wednesday, Morris spoke to reporters and revealed he believes Robinson is the best player in the NFL, which is quite the lofty praise.
“He’s definitely the best player in football, without a doubt,” the Falcons head coach said. “He’s unbelievable. I love the kid. I love everything about him. I love watching him with the ball. I love his confidence. I love his demeanor. I love his mindset. I love the leadership. I love everything about him.”
Rest assured, Robinson's agent just pumped his fist upon hearing that and will almost certainly use it during future contract negotiations.
Robinson is in his third year in the NFL, so he'll be eligible for a contract extension in 2026. Thankfully, the Falcons have time to figure that out because Robinson has a fifth-year option on his deal that keeps him under contract through 2027.
Teams have been hesitant to back up the Brinks truck for running backs over the years, but Robinson figures to have a strong case for the Falcons to do that.
He nearly broke 1,900 yards from scrimmage last season and was one of the very best backs in the league while also serving as the engine of Atlanta's offense. Robinson can do it all on the football field.
Barring something unforeseen, Robinson should reset the market at the position when his time comes, but how far he surpasses the top running back contract remains to be seen.
