Rams' Matt Stafford on Cam Ward's touchdown: 'It was an impressive play'

Despite the Tennessee Titans' loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, there is still a twinge of hope surrounding the team. Most of that is because Cam Ward is the quarterback, and he has shown that he has a bright future in this league. As he continues to develop and grow, the Titans will become more cohesive as a unit.

Ward recorded his first career touchdown pass to Elic Ayomanor on Sunday, which was Ayomanor's first career touchdown as well. It was a wild play that saw Ward scramble to the right out of the pocket. The receivers were all well-covered, and he didn't have many options. Ayomanor saw this and broke his route, taking off to the opposite side of the end zone from where everyone else was. Ward threw what is considered a nine-yard pass to Ayomanor, who caught it for a touchdown. Except that pass was more like 20 yards because it went from one sideline to the other, with Ward throwing across his body to make it happen.

It was an incredible play, and Rams quarterback Matt Stafford was impressed. He spoke on his weekly "Let's Go!" show on Sirius/XM Sports, and had nothing but praise for the Titans' rookie quarterback.

Ward ended the game going 19-for-33 for 175 yards and a touchdown. He took five sacks for a loss of 32 yards, but he also rushed (scrambled) four times for eight yards. So, it could have been nine sacks, which speaks poorly of the offensive line.

It's clear that Ward is going to be the guy going forward, but he's not going to make it very far if the Titans don't get him some protection. In the meantime, as he performs well under poor conditions, he will continue to receive praise from around the league. And when you have a guy like Matt Stafford giving you props, you know you're doing things the right way.
