Range Riders ride 3 HRs to 100th home victory

Aug. 21—Three firsts added up to nice round number for the Glacier Range Riders, who rode three home runs to a 6-5 Pioneer League win over Yuba-Sutter Wednesday and the franchise's 100th home victory.

The biggest home run came from Kyle Ashworth, a three-run shot to right that was his first professional long ball and put Glacier (16-16 this half) up 6-5 in the sixth inning.

That lead held up, giving relief pitcher Tyler Davis — he was signed on Aug. 7 — his first professional win. Reliever Jacob Hasty worked around a hit and a walk in the ninth to record his first professional save.

Earlier in the game, Angel Mendoza's two-run home run put Glacier up 2-1 in the second inning, and Logan Beard's solo shot in the third had the Range Riders up 3-2.

The High Wheelers got to starting pitcher Ty Bothwell for two runs in the fifth inning and another off Davis in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead. Bobby Lada hit an RBI double and scored on an errant throw by Mendoza in the fifth; Mike Campagna supplied an RBI single in the sixth.

That set the stage for Ashworth.

Bothwell allowed five hits, four walks and four runs (two earned) in five innings. Rayne Supple and Connor Housley each threw a scoreless inning.
