Recently traded Browns QB Joe Flacco will start for the Bengals in Week 6

Following Tuesday afternoon’s stunning trade for veteran Joe Flacco, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced that the new quarterback will be the team’s Week 6 starter.

Cincinnati acquired Flacco and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Browns in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick. The Bengals traded for Flacco with the obvious intent to replace quarterback Jake Browning, who had been filling in for long-term injured starter Joe Burrow. Head coach Zac Taylor appeared confident and ready to start Flacco in his most recent press conference, saying he will “take all the reps and get ready to go.” This was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Cincinnati is set to take on the Green Bay Packers, giving Flacco an opportunity to beat them for the second time in the first six weeks of the 2025 season.

The Bengals sent a car to Cleveland to pick up Joe Flacco and his wife and bring them to Cincinnati. Flacco began studying the offense during his 3.5-hour drive down I-71 South, knowing he’ll have to learn quickly to be ready for Sunday’s matchup vs. Green Bay. This will also be the first week the Cleveland Browns are without a veteran quarterback presence, as they prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers with rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
