Scholastic baseball/softball roundup | Central Cambria defeats Bishop McCort

Baseball

Central Cambria 9, Bishop McCort Catholic 7: Ben Howard totaled two hits and four RBIs, while Rocco Barra and Jake Kirsch each collected two knocks to lead the Red Devils over the host Crimson Crushers Wednesday at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point.

Central Cambria scored five runs in the fourth.

Bishop McCort’s Erik Radkowski provided two hits and two RBIs. Joe Baughman drove in two runs.

Chestnut Ridge 6, Bedford 3: In New Paris, Tyler Yatta went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, as the Lions defeated the Bisons.

Blake Conlan collected two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Brody Halkovich doubled and added two RBIs.

On the mound, Halkovich struck out 10 batters and walked two while allowing four hits in six innings.

Bedford’s Jamey Ringler drove in two runs.

Softball

Wednesday

Windber 9, Southern Huntingdon County 8: In Windber, Rylee Baer hit two homers and drove in four runs as the Ramblers topped the Rockets.

Baer smashed a three-run homer in Windber’s four-run first inning and added a solo shot in the third. Kaylie Gaye doubled and drove in two runs.

Cameron Mash collected two hits and scored three runs.

Bedford 5, Chestnut Ridge 1: In Bedford, Emma Byers struck out six and had no walks in a five-hitter as the host Bisons defeated the Lions.

Leah Nee netted two hits for Bedford. Brielle Hartman tripled and scored two runs.

Bree Harbaugh went 3-for-3 and scored Chestnut Ridge’s lone run.

Somerset 8, Forest Hills 6: In Somerset, Riley Wiencek went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs as the Golden Eagles beat the Rangers.

Payton Pollock hit a three-run home run. Addison Berkey (two RBIs) and Elly Fletcher each doubled for Somerset.

Forest Hills’ Trista Cruley (two RBIs) and Bryn Roberts each had two hits, including a double apiece. Taylor Snyder doubled.

Tuesday

Cambria Heights 10, Portage 8: In Portage, the Highlanders scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to beat the Mustangs.

Hallie Hayes homered and tripled among her three knocks and plated four runs. Autumn Groer tallied three hits and three RBIs. Margaret Elias supplied two knocks, including a double, and two stolen bases.

Carlie Jo Bachik and Kaitlyn Fox each plated two runs. Lakin Kelly tripled.

Portage’s Kendall Stancovich doubled and drove in a run. Brooke Stager plated two runs. Adasyn Trusik doubled in a run.
