Scottie Scheffler is eyeing his fourth major title this week at Oakmont. Heading into the tee-off on Thursday, he is the favorite to win.

During an interview on Tuesday, he was asked whether he ever paid any attention to the betting odds. Scheffler then revealed a hilarious detail about the fans: he had to delete his Venmo account after they kept requesting money on the app to cover their losing bets.

"I had to get rid of my Venmo because I was either getting paid by people or people were requesting me a bunch of money when I didn't win. It wasn't a good feeling." Scheffler said.

Worldwide, golf betting surged, with US handle at about $5 billion annually. Casual golfers globally regularly wager Nassau and skins bets, while major tournaments attract millions of viewers betting online legally.

"I don't pay attention to the favorite stuff or anything like that. I mean, starting Thursday morning, we're at even par and it's up to me to go out there and play against a golf course and see what I can do." He added.

Another reporter later followed up by asking what the largest amount he had ever received from fans on Venmo was. Scheffler replied that most fans were requesting money rather than sending it.

"I don't remember. The most that somebody would send me a couple bucks here or there. That didn't happen nearly as much as they requested." He said.

It remains to be seen how Scheffler performs at Oakmont, which many are claiming to be the hardest course. If he wins, he will be just one step away from completing the career Grand Slam.
