Sean Payton was fired up about pass rusher leaving AFC West
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton had a hilarious reaction to the departure of Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby from the AFC West.
Las Vegas agreed to trade Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens on Friday, in exchange for the Ravens' first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. Crosby joins a perennial threat in the Ravens, who are coming off an odd year where they didn't make the playoffs. But joining the Ravens means Crosby is far away from the talented trio of AFC West quarterbacks, including Bo Nix.
FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer, a former colleague of Payton at FOX, said Payton called him excitedly about the trade. Payton also offered to pay for a private plane to take Crosby on a one-way trip to Baltimore.
Crosby and the Ravens won't be on the Broncos' schedule this year, unless they face each other in the playoffs. Presumably, Nix will be safer when playing the Raiders without the threat of Crosby bearing down on him.
The NFL's free agency negotiating window opens on Monday. Deals with free agents from other clubs (and trades) won't become official until the new league year begins on Wednesday.
