See the top high school football games for Fort Collins, Northern Colorado in Week 4
We're a week away from Rivalry Week in the Fort Collins area, but there are some heated matchups and key games all around on the Northern Colorado high school football Week 4 slate.
Windsor hosts a trophy game, Wellington has its home opener, Fort Collins gets a shot at a big Class 5A win, Fossil Ridge looks to knock off a state power and another Loveland city game gets the spotlight.
Here's how the Week 4 slate looks, including the top Fort Collins-area and NoCo games to watch:
Week 4 Fort Collins-area football schedule (Sept. 18-20)
- Cherokee Trail at Rocky Mountain (Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m., French Field)
- Mountain View at Wellington (Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m., Wellington Middle-HS)
- Fossil Ridge at Regis Jesuit (Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m., Lou Kellogg Stadium)
- Severance at Windsor (Sept. 19, 7 p.m., H.J. Dudley Field)
- Poudre at Golden (Sept. 19, 7 p.m., NAAC Stadium)
- Timnath at Hinkley (Sept. 20, 2 p.m., Aurora Public Schools Stadium)
Local Game of the Week: Erie at Fort Collins (Sept. 19, 6:30 p.m., PSD Stadium)
This is one of the biggest home games in years for Fort Collins.
The Lambkins (3-0) are rolling and they welcome in a Tigers squad that is 1-2 but still in the Class 5A top-10 with losses coming only to fellow top-10 teams Mountain Vista and Ralston Valley.
There is a high potential for offensive fireworks in this one, with both teams capable of lighting up the scoreboard. Erie pulled away last year for a 42-14 win in this matchup.
How much better is Fort Collins this season? We may find out here.
NoCo Game of the Week: Loveland at Thompson Valley (Sept. 19, 7 p.m., Ray Patterson Field)
Even with both teams coming off a loss, this is a heated city matchup between teams that have won state titles in the 2020s and remain in their respective classes' top-10s.
Loveland (2-2) has shown some explosive burst through the passing game and a turnover-capable defense. Thompson Valley's (2-1) vaunted defensive unit allowed its most points in nearly two years in a loss to Timnath, snapping the Eagles' 16-game winning streak.
Both teams need a win with league play approaching. Who will play like the more desperate squad?
