Seth Trimble ardently urges UNC to keep Smith Center on campus

There have been a lot of voices that have come out in support of renovating the Dean Smith Center rather than relocating it to Carolina North.
The latest to come out in support of renovating North Carolina’s arena is senior guard Seth Trimble. Trimble made a guest appearance on The Field of 68’s podcast, “ACC Insider.”
Co-host Jeff Goodman asked the senior guard for his opinion on the widely discussed topic, and for those who favor keeping the Dean Smith Center in its current location, Trimble’s answer surely didn’t disappoint.

“You can’t move it. You can’t move it,” Trimble said. “I mean, I think when you think of the University of North Carolina, instantly what you think of is that gym.”
“If you take it away, you’re taking the history,” Trimble continued. “You’re taking the impact it has on the campus, and you’re taking away everything it does for the university. So I think without a doubt you can’t take it. Plus, Coach Williams has already come out and said you can’t move it, you’ve got to renovate. Tyler Hansbrough said it. So if they’re saying it, you just have to listen to them. They’ve done that.”
This isn’t shocking, considering that Trimble has not only played all four years of his career in Chapel Hill, but his older brother, J.P. Tokoto, also played at Carolina. If anything, Trimble grew up with Carolina basketball.
Trimble isn’t the only one who has spoken on the matter. Former Hall of Fame coach Roy Williams and former All-America selection Tyler Hansbrough have also stated their reasons for why the Smith Center should remain on Bowles Drive. Even Mike Krzyzewski, the legendary coach of Carolina’s biggest rival, Duke, wants them to keep the arena on campus.
Trimble is averaging 14.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season.
