Seven from Sunday: Intriguing stats from around the NFL

Let's take a look at seven statistical highlights from the games on NFL Sunday.

Close Games

At one point yesterday, eight different games were within one score of each other in the fourth quarter. Seven total games on the day were ultimately decided by one score. The Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all recorded game-winning scores within the final three minutes of the fourth quarter. This tied for most such games since 1970.

The Buccaneers and last-minute heroics

The Buccaneers are the first team in the Super Bowl era to record a game-winning score in the final minute of the fourth quarter within the team's first three games.

Eagles and Browns overcome deficits to win

Philadelphia overcame a 19-point second-half deficit to win, while Cleveland overcame a 10-point deficit in the final four minutes to earn their first win of the season. The Eagles are the first team to overcome a second-half deficit of 19 or more points since Denver in Week 4 of the 2023 season (overcame a 21-point deficit to win at Chicago).

Eagles DL Jordan Davis set a record for a big man with his blocked FG

Eagles defensive tackles Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter each blocked the field goal attempt by the Rams in the fourth quarter yesterday. The Eagles are the first team since 1978 to block two field goals in the fourth quarter of the same game. Davis is also the heaviest player in NFL history at 336 pounds to return a blocked kick for a touchdown of 50 or more yards.

Jordan Davis racks up the accolades

On his return of the blocked field goal for a touchdown against the Rams, Davis would reach a speed of 18.59 miles per hour. It was the fastest time for a player over 330 pounds since 2017.

Are the Indianapolis Colts for Real? It sure looks like it

The Colts became only the sixth team since 2002 to score 28 points or more and have a record of 3-0 within the first three games after previously missing the playoffs the year before.

Rookies taking kicks to the house

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Troy Horton (95 yards) and Washington Commanders rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane (90 yards) each recorded a punt return for a touchdown in Week 3. It would mark the first time in NFL history that two rookies would return a punt for a touchdown of 90 yards or more.
