An hour before the game between the Indiana Fever and the Washington Mystics started, Fever head coach Stephanie White was asked during a pregame press conference if there were any updates on Sophie Cunningham's ankle injury and her teammate, Caitlin Clark, who is also out with a quad injury.
"No. Not yet," White simply responded. "Sorry. I wish."
Despite being out with an ankle injury and a chipped tooth, Cunningham was all smiles at Gainbrige Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Tuesday before the game.
The Fever guard was captured by sports journalists Scott Agness and Chloe Peterson of the IndyStar, taking photos with fans and signing autographs before the game started. Both Agness and Peterson posted videos on X on Tuesday evening.
The 28-year-old athlete was wearing a black tube top and a pair of black pants. Her long blonde hair was down, and she accessorized the look with a simple gold cross necklace and wore a dark gray scrunchie on her wrist.

Another fan account dedicated to the Stanford alum quote-tweeted the original post, writing, "good human 🫶🫶."
"Sophie getting the love❤️," one user wrote.
One fan posted, "Sophie Cunningham is a great addition to the team and it a fan favorite !"

"Sophie Cunningham may be OUT for tonight’s game, but she showed up for her fans!" the sports director of White River Broadcasting posted on X, along with a new angle of the guard taking pictures with fans.
Cunningham sustained a right ankle injury during the Fever's preseason game against the Atlanta Dream on May 10, causing her to miss the season opener against the Chicago Sky that took place a week later. She then re-injured the same ankle in the fourth quarter of a game against the Connecticut Sun last Friday, further sidelining her.
The game between the Fever and the Mystics started at 7:00 p.m. ET. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 69-55, with the Fever leading.
