MSU is back to the Frozen Four Tournament as a number one seed and a third straight appearance. That other team garnered the overall number 1 seed, a position that MSU had in their hands. However, things happen for a reason and I have to believe the Spartans are right where they are mean’t to be. They have not been a team to back down from higher ranked opponents, difficult venues or so called “superior” opponents.

Worcester has the Spartans facing off against UConn in game one. Puck drops on Thursday, March 26 at 1:30pm on ESPN 2. The bracket also includes the number 2 seed Dartmouth and the number 3 seeded Wisconsin Badgers. UConn was the last at large team to make the tourney and did so primarily because Ohio State lost in the B1G title game. UConn lost to Merrimack in the Hockey East Tournament final. UConn is making their second ever Frozen Four after just missing the finals in an overtime loss last year.

This will be the first time MSU heads to the tourney after a loss since Nightingale has taken the reigns. Last year was the heartbreaking first round loss to Cornell with 10 seconds left and the previous year was a 5-2 loss to Michigan in the second round. Win and move on and whoever is in front of you at that time is just the next team you take the axe to. MSU deserves to be there and when they are playing their best can look unbeatable. Let’s hope some time off, some preparations based on predictions and a chip on the shoulder set the Spartans up for post season success. TOC Nation can stay here for a preview and recap of game 1. Let me know what your thoughts are about the brackets. After last year, I’m looking at just one game at a time and definitely not looking ahead. The Spartans have an opportunity for greatness, now let’s see if they can get it.
