Steelers EDGE Nick Herbig ready to be full-time starter per report

Steelers EDGE Nick Herbig ready to be full-time starter per report

The Pittsburgh Steelers could have a real problem on their hands. With Mike McCarthy coming in to the Pittsburgh Steelers, we could see some significant roster turnover. The Steelers have several free agents who played a significant role last season who won't return and there could be multiple guys who end up salary cap casualties.

One guy who we hope isn't on the move is outside linebacker Nick Herbig. Herbig might be the most underrated guy on the Steelers defense and he's ready for the opportunity to be a full-time starter. Even if that means not staying in Pittsburgh.

Former Steeler Breiden Fehoko posted on X that he spoke to Herbig and said all he wants it to be treated like a full-time starter and no more pitch counts.

The Problem is the Steelers have an obnoxious amount of money wrapped up in the salaries of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. Herbig absolutely deserves to be a starter in the NFL and he was the team's best pass rusher last season. If McCarthy addresses this concern, we'd rather see Highsmith or even Watt traded before Herbig. Herbig is in the final year of his rookie contract in 2026 and should get a massive contract extension in the offseason.
