Steelers GM Omar Khan shoots down 2024 comparison post-Pickens trade

The George Pickens trade may have Steelers fans thinking it's Groundhog Day in the Steel City — but GM Omar Khan may have something to say about the 2024 WR comparison.

One of the biggest weaknesses for the Steelers last season was the lack of production from their wide receivers not named Pickens — an issue that Pittsburgh seemingly corrected with the acquisition of DK Metcalf this offseason.

However, as many are now aware, the Metcalf-led wide receiver room in 2025 is in a similar boat as last season — but not according to Khan, who recently shared the differences from the 2024 season at Friday's press conference:

"Well, obviously we made the investment with DK. We've had another year with some of the young guys and have gotten to know them — watch them develop. We [signed] Robert Woods. Roman [Wilson] is healthy."

It was recently reported that the Steelers are depending on a Year 2 leap from Wilson to serve as Pickens' successor — and clearly, Khan believes the second-year receiver, along with Metcalf, Robert Woods, and Calvin Austin, will help alleviate the growing pains after sending their disgruntled receiver to Dallas.

Is Khan's confidence based in reality, or is this simply another example of the Steelers making the same mistakes but expecting different results?
