The Pittsburgh Steelers have shuffled their wideout room this offseason.

Two trades have completely altered the look and feel of the receivers after acquiring DK Metcalf in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks and parting ways with George Pickens in a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Reports and rumors of a possible trade for a No. 2 option behind Metcalf continue, with names like Chris Olave, Jonnu Smith and Kyle Pitts being hypothetical targets, but wideout coach Zach Azzanni told reporters this week that at least for now, they've found that guy internally.

“I think that No. 2 spot is all Calvin [Austin III]’s right now,” Azzanni said. “Really, he and DK [Metcalf] are such different players that there’s going to be plays that he is the one guy because that’s his route, and vice versa, because they’re so different... Nothing affects him, and he’s a great leader. He can do a lot of things that a No. 2 can do.”

Second-year receiver Roman Wilson, who spent last season mostly injured, has also been discussed after impressing early this offseason. Wilson appeared in just one game last year but hopes to be healthy moving forward.

For Austin, he brings just two seasons of experience with him into 2025 after being the Steelers' fourth-round pick in 2022 out of Memphis.

Across those two seasons, he's appeared in 34 games with nine starts and posted 728 yards on 53 receptions with five touchdowns.

If he's the answer at WR2, it'll have to be a drastic improvement in performance for Austin, whose career-high in yards was just 548 last season.
