Steelers vs Jets: Top storylines in this week's game

This week the Pittsburgh Steelerskick off the regular season against the New York Jets. For the Jets, they continue to try to climb back to a point of respectability in the AFC, while the Steelers are hoping they can continue their consistent success and finally get over the playoff hump. Here are the storylines to watch in this week's game.

Quarterback showdown

It will be a battle of quarterbacks going against their former teams. Aaron Rodgers was a Jet last season and Justin Fields was a Steeler. Both guys have downplayed the significance of this, but you can bet that both guys are going to push it just a little harder to prove their old team wrong for cutting them loose.

The rust on Aaron Rodgers

Speaking of Rodgers, it will be worth watching to see if Rodgers comes out rusty after not playing a single snap in the preseason. He wasn't the only starting quarterback to do this but at 41 years old and on a new team, we won't be shocked if the offense comes out stuck in neutral.

Getting the pass rush back on track

Pittsburgh has seen its sack numbers dwindle over the past three seasons. After a five-season stretch of 50+ sacks, Pittsburgh has failed to do better than 47 in the last three years. This must be an area of emphasis for Pittsburgh this season with all the money invested in the pass rushers.
