According to Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin, the Suns announced Goodwin would not return after being diagnosed with left calf soreness. The injury not only impacts Phoenix’s depth for the game but also raises questions about his availability for Game 2.
Goodwin logged just five minutes and scored two points in the first half before exiting. Phoenix turned to Royce O’Neale to start the second half in his place. The adjustment reflects the team’s need for defensive intensity and perimeter shooting.

The injury also adds to what has been a stop-and-go stretch for Goodwin, who has dealt with lower-body issues late in the season. He averaged 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while transitioning into a larger role as the year progressed.
His value, however, is often defined by his on-ball defense and energy, along with timely 3-point shooting that has helped spark the Suns’ rotation.

The team has not yet provided additional information on Goodwin’s status moving forward.
