Tah plans to announce new club soon after Leverkusen exit
Germany defender Jonathan Tah plans to announce his new club soon, having decided not to renew his contract at Bayer Leverkusen.
"I will make a decision soon. I don't want to set a date. Fact is that it won't be in two months' time," Tah told Sunday paper Bild am Sonntag.
Tah, 29, spent 10 years at Leverkusen and won the Bundesliga and German Cup double with them last year. He was set for his final home game, just like coach Xabi Alonso, later Sunday against Borussia Dortmund.
He said he will remember his time in Leverkusen on his death bed but that he wants to leave his comfort zone now and face a new challenge.
Tah appeared close to a move to Bayern Munich last year but it remains unclear whether the freshly crowned champions are still interested now. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has said that Tah is "not an issue" at the moment.
A move abroad is also an option, with La Liga leaders Barcelona mentioned as a possible option.
"It puts you under extra pressure if you go somewhere where you don't perhaps speak the language. Also in my role which I would naturally like to have in a team. It would demand a lot from me to get involved somewhere. That's why going abroad definitely appeals to me," he said.
