Team Flip competes at state
OTTUMWA — Team Flip Gymnastics out of Ottumwa shined at the Iowa Xcel State competition earlier this spring. Medals were awarded to the top 50-percent of competitors in each level and age group.
Allie Harris, Harper Probst and Leah Nicholson each finished first in floor among the Team Flip gymnasts competing among the bronze level. Harris also finished second in bars, fifth in vault and sixth in all-around while Probst was third in bars, fourth in all-around and sixth in vault. Nicholson finished second in all-around, third in beam and fourth in bars.
Also competing among the bronze-level gymnasts included Zelda Eastep placed second in both vault and all-around as well as fourth in floor, seventh in beam and eighth in bars. Hannah Harris finished second in beam, sixth in floor and eighth in all-around. Evelyn Logan placed seventh in floor.
Ally VanZee produced first-place finishes in the beam, floor and all-around to lead the silver-level Team Flip gymnasts. VanZee added a second-place finish in the bars and a fourth-place finish in the vault.
Harper Clubb added a first-place finish for the silver-level gymnasts in the floor while finishing third in all-around and sixth in the bars, beam and vault. Ava 'Dubs' Wenke placed second in both the bars and the beam while finishing fourth in the vault and in all-around.
Wrigley Moode placed second in the vault, third in the floor, fourth in all-around and sixth in bars. Emmy Ebert finished second in the beam, third in both floor and all-around and fourth in the vault.
Ruby Floden placed second in the bars, fifth in both beam and all-around and seventh in both the floor and vault. Teagan Orwig added a third-place finish in bars, fifth-place finish in all-around, sixth-place finish in the vault and seventh-place finish in the beam for the silver-level gymnasts.
Aria Probst produced the top all-around score competing for Team Flip on the gold level while also finishing second in both bars and beam. Probst also finished fourth in floor and seventh in vault.
Olivia 'Liv' Wenke placed second in the bars, fourth in both vault and all-around, sixth in the beam and seventh in floor. Carly Nicholson placed second in the vault, fourth in bars and all-around, sixth in the beam and eighth in the floor.
Arrieta 'Ed' Thompson placed fourth in the vault, fifth in the beam, sixth in all-around and eighth in floor. Haylee Evans added a seventh-place finish in floor and eighth-place finish in the beam for the gold-level Team Flip competitors.
Alora Baxter, competing on the diamond level, finished third for Team Flip in the vault. Competing on the platinum level, both McKenna VanZee and Shameka Scott placed second in the vault with Scott adding a second-place finish in the floor, fifth-place finish in all-around and seventh-place finish in the bars while VanZee finished third in all-around, fourth in beam, fifth in bars and seventh in floor.
Other platinum-level Team Flip gymnasts that competed at state included Hayden Sedore finishing third in the floor, fourth in vault, fifth in all-round, sixth in bars and seventh in beam. Lilly Marth finished fourth in bars, fifth in all-around, sixth in beam, seventh in floor and eighth in vault. McKinley Horn finished seventh in all-around.
Team Flip competes throughout the weekend at the Region 4 Xcel Championships in Sioux City. The team is coached by Natalie Stevens, Melissa Baxter, Olivia Brown, Clara Caudill, Carigan McCloskey and Hayden Sedore.
