In an inspiring example of triumph over tragedy, a grieving teen scored the winning goal for his hockey team, weeks after his transgender dad gunned down his mother, brother and grandfather during a game.

As Colin Dorgan was mobbed by his overjoyed teammates, he gushed, via WPRI: “It was the greatest moment of my life!”

His goal in double overtime of a playoff game sent Colin’s team to the state championship — but the March 11 celebration followed the worst moments of the 17-year-old’s life.

Colin was on the ice on Feb. 16 when his deranged dad, Robert Dorgan, opened fire in the stands, killing his ex-wife Rhonda Dorgan, their adult son, Aidan, and his former father-in-law, Gerald Dorgan.

Gerald’s wife and a family friend were also wounded.

Robert, who also went by the name Roberta Esposito, then turned the gun on himself in the Pawtucket, R.I., hockey arena.

As players hustled off the ice, Colin’s coach Chris Librizzi, who’s a retired firefighter, rushed to treat the wounded.

“This was by far the worst that I’ve ever been to, because I was right there from the onset,” he said, according to CNN.

It was later revealed that the crazed shooter, 56, had recently undergone gender transition surgery and his trans identity had led to legal battles in family court. (Robert also shared surnames with his former in-laws because he and his ex-wife, who married in 1992, were first cousins once removed.)

While Colin grieved with his sister Ava, Coach Librizzi made sure the team spent time together, bonding over workouts and shared dinnertimes.

Colin — who attends North Providence High School but plays for the Blackstone Valley co-op team — rejoined his teammates two weeks after the tragedy.

He and his entire Blackstone Valley team wore heart patches with the initials of Colin’s late family members on their jerseys.

In the team’s quarterfinal match, Colin scored two goals but saved his true moment of glory for the semifinal game.

The game went to a double overtime and with just 48 seconds left, Colin scored the winning goal in a dramatic breakaway.

“My good buddy fed me the puck and I could hear the crowd,” the gutsy teen said, per WPRI. “It was a surreal moment.”

Librizzi added, per CNN: “I was overwhelmed with joy for him, overwhelmed with joy for the team, for Colin’s sister, for the whole family, and for our hockey family.”
