Tennessee football announces game captains against Syracuse in Week 1

No. 18 Tennessee will kick off its 2025 college football season Saturday versus Syracuse. Rankings reflect the US LBM Coaches Poll. The Orange are receiving 16 votes.

Kickoff between Tennessee and Syracuse is slated for noon EDT at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. ABC will televise the matchup. Bob Wischusen (play-by-play), Louis Riddick (analyst) and Kris Budden (sideline reporter) will be on the call.

Ahead of Saturday's season opener, the Vols announced game captains for Week 1.

Redshirt junior long snapper Bennett Brady, junior linebacker Arion Carter, senior tight end Miles Kitselman and redshirt senior defensive back Andre Turrentine will serve as Tennessee's game captains against Syracuse.

Saturday will mark the fourth game between Tennessee and Syracuse all time. The all-time football series dates to 1966. Tennessee is 3-0 against the Orange.

The Vols hold a 16-19 record all time in games contested in Atlanta, Georgia.
