Texans vs, Bucs Week 2 live updates: Start time, TV channel, injury status
A new era of Houston Texans football, and hopefully a promising one, returns to NRG Stadium on Monday night.
Headlined by C.J. Stroud, Will Anderson Jr., Derek Stingley Jr. and Nico Collins, the Texans looked poised to make a run to the AFC title game for the first time in franchise history. Everything, however, has to start off with a promising result in Week 2, which is why a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is essential.
For the most part, the Texans are expected to be at full strength on defense. Offensively, there are limitations at the wide receiver position following the injuries to Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios. Houston will turn to rookies Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins to pick up the slack in the passing game, which could be hit or miss depending on how quickly they adapt to Nick Caley's offense.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are coming off a 23-20 come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Falcons thanks to Baker Mayfield. While the former No. 1 overall pick only threw for 167 yards, he also tossed three touchdown passes, including the game-winning 25-yard score to Emeka Egbuka with less than a minute remaining.
