Texans Wire's Player of the Game: QB C.J. Stroud
This was the version of C.J. Stroud that the Houston Texans drafted to be their franchise quarterback.
Even if multiple defenders were out for the Baltimore Ravens, the Texans are looking for every win possible, including their gunslinger responding with a solid outing.
Stroud was more than smooth in Sunday's 44-10 win over the Ravens to help Houston improve to 2-3. He stayed hot under center, throwing for a season-high four touchdowns along with 244 passing yards and zero turnovers and a passer rating of 143.9.
“What I saw from C.J. today was his demeanor. He was very calm. He was very under control the entire game. He didn’t get flustered," Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. "They got back there on a couple of plays. He didn’t allow that to fluster him. He continued to press forward, continued to make plays, made great decisions with the football. So, I’m just proud of him having the resolve to just continue to push through. He had a nice rush there to get us in the red zone. He just made smart plays with the football all day.”
Stroud's 85 percent completion rating not only set his season-high of 76.6, but also a career-best against a team that usually controlled his production. His 143.9 passer rating was his best since his last four-touchdown performance in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023.
“You always want to see your proof in the pudding. You want to take a step forward every game. I thought today,we did that in a lot of ways," Stroud said. "We still have to clean some things up, but I'm happy with the win. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to play in Baltimore again and get a ‘W.’ It’s the first time in our organization's history to win up here, so God is great. It’s amazing to be on this team in this locker room. All the things we need to get better [at], we’ll get better. It‘s good to enjoy it.”
For his efforts, he's Texans Wire's Player of the Game.
The Texans return next week to take on the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Monday Night Football in two weeks.
