Texas A&M rises seven spots in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll
Texas A&M's 41-40 win over Notre Dame in Week 3 stands as one of the most impressive wins of the year, improving the Aggies to 3-0, while the Fighting Irish are now a surprising 0-2 with an uphill climb that likely won't result in a return to the College Football Playoff.
In his second season, coach Mike Elko was determined to end what had been a miserable 11-year drought on the road against ranked opponents, especially against top 10-ranked competition. After falling to Notre Dame in Kyle Field during the 2024 opener, this game certainly had personal meaning for Elko and nearly every player on the 2025 roster.
In one of the craziest matchups of the year so far, starting quarterback Marcel Reed and transfer wide receiver Mario Craver clearly didn't listen to the national media, who believed Notre Dame would especially shut down Texas A&M's offense, as the duo connected for 207 yards, including Craver's 72-yard touchdown early in the first quarter.
From start to finish, Marcel Reed was lights out in key moments, and while he only completed 17/37, nearly every one of his completions went for significant gains, matching Notre Dame play after play. While Texas A&M's defense did not have its best performance, Elko and his staff now have the Week 4 bye week to hopefully address the remaining issues before hosting a ranked Auburn team in Kyle Field.
Around the rest of the SEC, LSU took care of Florida 20-10, intercepting Gators QB DJ Lagway three times, while Vanderbilt blew out South Carolina on the road 31-7. Georgia remains the top dog after outlasting Tennessee on the road in OT, while Ole Miss outscored Arkansas at home to stay undefeated.
After the massive victory, Texas A&M rose seven spots to No. 10 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll rankings ahead of Week 4.
