Texas A&M Sends Clear Message After Latest Portal Move
As Bucky McMillan and his coaching staff continue rebuilding the Aggies roster, Texas A&M may have just received some of their most important news to date.
Earlier this week former Texas Tech forward Federiko Federiko committed to Texas A&M, in what was yet another major portal victory for coach McMillan and the Aggies. At 6’11” 220 pounds, Federiko is a skilled and crafty big man that should bring some solid depth to College Station. The former Red Raider averaged 5.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game as a junior last season, while shooting an impressive 74.3% from the field as well. Federiko should prove to become a major pick up for the Aggies on both sides of the court, as the veteran forward has elite scoring ability that should pair very nicely with his dominating defensive presence.
The Helsinki, Finland native spent the past two seasons as a starter for the Pittsburgh Panthers, before ultimately transferring to Texas Tech last offseason. During his time in the ACC, Federiko found himself finishing inside the top 10 in offensive rebounds, blocks, defensive plus/minus, offensive rebound percentage and block percentage. Federiko should find no problems fitting into McMillan’s coaching style, as the former Panther is expected to compete for a starting role.
The addition of Federiko marks the start of a
new beginning for Texas A&M, as Bucky McMillan and his staff continue to send a powerful message throughout the SEC by acquiring multiple elite players over the past few weeks.
