The Cubs incorrectly thought Pope Leo was a fan and shared it on the Wrigley Field sign

Newly announced Pope Leo XIV's brother revealed on Thursday that the new pope is a Chicago White Sox fan, refuting earlier reports that he cheers for the Chicago Cubs.

Well, the Cubs posted a bit too soon before Pope Leo's White Sox fandom became public, sharing on X (Twitter) a photo of the Wrigley Field sign. The message on the legendary sign? "Hey, Chicago, he's a Cubs fan!"

Now that the world knows Pope Leo cheers for the White Sox, the Cubs will probably change out this message pretty soon (and take down the original post).

Just in case they do take it down, we've screenshotted it below for the record.

Maybe Pope Leo actually cheers for both teams? Who knows. Sorry, Cubs fans, at least for now.
