The Reds had two injury scares in their win vs. Giants. What to know

The Cincinnati Reds evaluated Emilio Pagán for what was described as a possible hamstring injury following the team's 2-1 win against the San Francisco Giants. Meanwhile, the Reds' starting pitcher in the game indicated he wasn't seriously injured following his own injury scare in the contest.

Pagán, the Reds' closer, appeared to descend the mound on uneven footing following the final pitch of his fifth save of 2026, which preserved the win for Cincinnati. Reds manager Terry Francona said Pagán was being evaluated post-game for a possible hamstring injury.

"We got to get him checked out. His hammy grabbed a little bit," Francona said. "We need to check him out. He's being looked at right now."

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Emilio Pagán (15) pitches in the ninth inning between the Cincinnati Reds and the San Francisco Giants at Great American Ball in Cincinnati on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Starting pitcher Brady Singer appeared to avoid a major injury during the April 14 game.

Singer was struck on the top of his right foot by a grounder in the sixth inning. He threw two further pitches in the inning to end the Giants' at-bat but gave his manager the impression he was in pain when the game paused and Francona watched Singer throw warmup tosses.

X-rays on Singer's foot were negative, Francona said.

"He got hit on the top of the foot on that bone. He got hit pretty good," Francona said. "Obviously, got to keep an eye on him the next couple days."

Singer said he was "good for the next one" after the game.

"I wanted to get through the sixth there," Singer said. "Had some short outings this year. I wanted to finish that off and get through the sixth.

"Yeah, just kind of pushed through. I'm glad he got out kind of quick. Getting deep in the game there was great but yeah, had to battle there through the last two pitches after the foot-ball, but Sal made a great play on it, too, which was cool. If I can just keep kicking it to people, I'll take it."
