Titans kicker Joey Slye blasts 63-yard field goal in preseason game vs Vikings

Titans kicker Joey Slye hit a 63-yard field goal in the final preseason game versus the Vikings to give Tennessee a 17-3 lead with 11:19 to go in the third quarter.

Had it been a regular season game, he would have set the franchise record for the longest field goal. The current record is a 60-yard field goal set by Rob Bironas in 2006.

On Tennessee's drive to open the second half, the Titans completed five plays that set up the field goal attempt.

Earlier in the game, Slye kicked the ball out of bounds resulting in a penalty which allowed the Vikings to start their drive at the 40 yard line.

This was a big moment for Slye as he's in his first season with the Titans.

In the Titans first preseason game versus the Buccaneers, he was 1-for-1 on extra points. In Tennessee's second preseason game against the Falcons, he hit a 23-yard field goal, but missed one of his two extra points.

Slye, who played last season with the Patriots, held a season long kick of 63-yards. He was 26-for-29 on field goals for New England. Slye replaced Titans kicker Nick Folk who was with Tennessee for the past two seasons.
