Two Angels Pitchers Make Decisions After Clearing Waivers
Los Angeles Angels right-handed relievers Shaun Anderson and Jordan Roman both cleared waivers after the Halos designated them for assignment Sunday.
The Angels outrighted Anderson to Triple-A after he cleared waivers, prompting him to elect free agency, and Romano went directly to free agency after he cleared them. RHP Shaun Anderson cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake. He has elected free agency.

Anderson and Romano were two pieces of a large roster shuffle for the Angels, which included moving Logan O’Hoppe to the injured list with a fractured wrist and calling up three players from Triple-A.
Anderson has spent the last couple of seasons bouncing between free agency, Triple-A and MLB with the Angels. He has made 16 appearances at the MLB level across the last two seasons, posting a 7.71 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched.
He had a 5.94 mark this season, allowing 11 runs through 16.2 innings pitched.
The Angels signed Romano in the offseason to a $2 million contract in the offseason, and he got off to a decent enough start to the year—posting zeroes through his first six outings—before collapsing over his last five games. Romano allowed nine runs over his last three innings of work, which led to the Angels releasing him.
Jose Fermin, who came up from Triple-A to replace them, has looked decent so far with the Angels, making a singular scoreless appearance. The other pitcher who came up, left-hander Joey Lucchesi, struggled in his first appearance after coming back, allowing three runs through 0.2 innings pitched.
How do you feel about the Angels’ bullpen shuffle?
