Two-Minute Drill for Sept. 8: USF upsets Gators, Travis Hunter makes debut in Jaguars win

It was a bad weekend for Gators and Dolphins fans, but most every other state NFL and college team was made happy.

USF 18, Florida 16

It appears Florida paid USF a half million dollars to come into the Swamp to demoralize the Gators on Saturday night.

A last-second field goal gave the Bulls an 18-16 victory, potentially sealing Billy Napier’s fate as Gators head coach.

Florida now faces LSU, Miami and Texas, in that order, over the next month. If the Gators lose all of those games and fall to 1-4, Napier likely won’t make it to the end of the season.

FSU 77, East Texas A&M 3

In Tallahassee, the Seminoles mangled East Texas A&M 77-3, tying the school record for the largest victory in program history.

FSU scored 11 touchdowns and recorded over 700 yards of total offense.

In South Florida, the Miami Hurricanes crushed Bethune-Cookman 45-3 at Hard Rock Stadium.

They next face USF, hoping to avoid the fate the Gators suffered this past weekend.

UCF 68, North Carolina A&T 7

UCF improved to 2-0 with a 68-7 destruction of North Carolina A&T on Saturday.

They have a bye week upcoming before North Carolina and the Bill Belichick show descend on Orlando.

Jacksonville Jaguars 26, Carolina Panthers 10

Travis Hunter made his debut, catching six passes on eight targets for 33 yards while tallying one tackle on defense in the Jaguars’ 26-10 win against the Carolina Panthers.

Indianapolis Colts 33, Miami Dolphins 8

The Miami Dolphins were clobbered by Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts 33-8. Tua Tagovailoa had a forgettable day with 114 yards passing with a touchdown and two interceptions.

The Buccaneers survived the Atlanta Falcons 23-20. The Falcons missed a potential game-tying field goal with just 6 seconds left in the game.
