UNC football flips Miami recruit

The North Carolina Tar Heels are returning from their second bye of the season as they prepare for a Week 8 road matchup at Cal on Friday night. With the program at 2-3 on the year and fresh off a week of rumors and reports surrounding Bill Belichick, the future continues to be the biggest storyline.

On Wednesday night, the Tar Heels got some positive news regarding a future recruit they are targeting.

Four-star defensive back Kenton Dopson officially flipped his commitment from Miami to North Carolina. The move happened after months of pursuit for the Tar Heels, including getting him on campus and really upping their pursuit.

The defensive back goes to Miami Norland, which is just a few miles from the Hurricanes' campus. He's been a Hurricanes commit for a while but UNC's relentless push and coaching staff experience helped flip him.

Dopson also reclassified from the 2027 class to 2026, as he will join UNC after the winter.

He's ranked No. 158 nationally, No. 17 defensive back, and No. 21 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings.
