Updated look at Eagles' WR room following Dontayvion Wicks trade

With the 2026 NFL Draft swiftly approaching, the Philadelphia Eagles continue to reload at the wide receiver position. Acquiring former Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks was the latest of three receiver additions the Eagles made this offseason. Whether these moves are in preparation for an eventual A.J. Brown trade remains to be seen.

Let's take a look at the Eagles' updated WR room as it currently stands.

A.J. Brown

Trade talks surrounding the All-Pro receiver have halted for the time being, but they will likely resume after June 1. Speculative reporting aside, there are many reasons to believe that Brown won't be in Philadelphia next season. Brown was visibly frustrated with the offense in 2025, and the Eagles actively shopped him when free agency got underway.

Eagles' GM Howie Roseman isn't going to offload an elite talent for minimal return, and all of Brown's preferred landing spots (other than New England) have gone in other directions at receiver. Brown has repeatedly stated that Philadelphia is his home, and the Eagles are undoubtedly a better team with him on the roster. Perhaps the two sides can mend their issues, but you can't keep a player around who isn't bought in.

Since joining the Eagles in 2022, Brown has recorded 339 receptions for 5,034 yards (ninth-most in franchise history) and 32 touchdowns.

DeVonta Smith

If Philadelphia does move on from A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith is more than ready for a WR1 workload. Internally, the Eagles are genuinely excited about the prospect of Smith taking over as the clear centerpiece of the offense. Matthew Berry echoed that sentiment when gathering intel at this year's NFL Scouting Combine.

"Regarding A.J. Brown, the Eagles are undecided on keeping him or not. They are definitely listening and are open to moving him as has been widely reported. But one thought around Brown possibly leaving that I hadn’t heard before was that the Eagles LOVE DeVonta Smith. They think, as good as he’s been in the NFL, he still hasn’t reached his full potential and has “another gear” he can get to. That, if Smith were given the same kind of target share as Jaxon Smith-Njigba, he could have that kind of year. They believe in his talent that much and that’s among the many reasons they would be OK moving Brown."

With new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion now leading the charge, Smith has unlimited potential in a system derived from Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan. If you're playing fantasy football next season, buy all the DeVonta Smith stock you can find.

Hollywood Brown

The Eagles signed former Ravens and Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown to a one-year deal in March to seemingly fill the void left by Jahan Dotson, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency. Brown spent the past two years catching passes from Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, tallying 49 receptions for 587 yards and five touchdowns last season.

A former first-round pick in 2019, Brown proved he can still stretch the field and be a capable downfield threat at 28 years old.

Dontayvion Wicks

Wicks is one of the NFL's hidden gems at the position. He's a crisp route-runner who consistently gets open against man coverage, but was in a crowded Packers offense with Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed.

Although Wicks has been plagued by drops in the past (he led the NFL in drop rate in 2024), he improved in that area last season (just two drops in 14 games). Wicks projects as a dynamic WR3 with WR2 upside if A.J. Brown is traded.

Elijah Moore

Following the trend of signing former high draft picks, the Eagles agreed to terms with WR Elijah Moore on March 24. Fans quickly connected this signing to the well-documented friendship between Moore and A.J. Brown, dating back to their college days.

Bringing in a player just to appease someone else isn't good practice, however, and Moore has an uphill battle to make the roster. Moore had just nine catches in nine games with Buffalo last season before being waived and joining Denver's practice squad. He has produced at the NFL level, most notably in Cleveland, where he recorded 1,178 yards across two seasons.

Moore will need a strong training camp to carve out a role on offense.

Darius Cooper

Cooper made a name for himself last summer after going undrafted out of Tarleton State. He showed out in training camp and carried that momentum into the preseason, earning himself a spot on the final 53-man roster.

In 2025, Cooper logged 212 offensive snaps and recorded nine receptions for 92 yards. He has reliable hands and a strong work ethic, and could see a larger role moving forward.

Other receivers on Eagles' roster: Johnny Wilson, Britain Covey, Quez Watkins, Danny Gray
