USA TODAY Sports Super 25 girls flag football rankings, Week 5

USA TODAY Sports Super 25 flag football rankings, in partnership with the NFL.

The spotlight turns to Arizona and shines on a new No. 1 team in the USA TODAY Sports Super 25 flag football rankings.

Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) is off to a hot start in one of the most competitive areas in high school sports — the Phoenix metro.

Headlined by stars like Samaya Taylor-Jenkins, the team began its dynamic run last week with a statement win over the 5A defending state champ, Canyon View. And that momentum didn't let up this week, as the Huskies took down Shadow Ridge (Surprise, Ariz.), 58-0.

Of course, a new No. 1 doesn't happen without the former top-ranked team losing ground. Organ Lutheran (Calif.), which has held the top spot for four consecutive weeks, lost a tough battle to Super 25 foe JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.). The outcome catapulted the Lions to the No. 2 spot, reshaping much of the rankings.

Super 25 flag football selection process

In partnership with the NFL, the teams are determined by a USA TODAY Network selection committee of editors and writers in the participating states and the USA TODAY High School Sports staff.

The process considers factors ranging from last year's results based on NFHS Network data, carryover into this season, and a primary focus on 2025 records and overall performance. A team's state ranking influences its national placement, a process that allows editorial expertise and objectivity to blend with the ever-present subjectivity.
