USC baseball enters top ten of USA Today Coaches Poll
Over the weekend, the USC baseball team continued its red-hot start to the season by sweeping Washington in a three-game series at Dedeaux Field. The Trojans are now a remarkable 24-1 to open the year.
It took a little while, but it appears as though USC is finally gaining some respect nationally for its incredible start. On Monday, USA Today released its latest college baseball Coaches Poll. The Trojans are now officially a top ten team, coming in at No. 10 in the rankings. While rankings data is only available going back so far, this is the first time in quite some time that they have been ranked in the top ten.
USC is one of three Big Ten teams in the top 25—and all three are West Coast schools. Crosstown rival UCLA remained No. 1, while Oregon came in at No. 17.
USC and UCLA are set to face off in a massive series in Westwood in two weeks. This week, though, the Trojans will host Oregon State in an old Pac-12 battle on Tuesday, before traveling to Maryland for a three-game series over the weekend. With Oregon State ranking No. 14, Tuesday’s game will be a massive opportunity for USC to earn a victory over a ranked opponent.
