USC football hopes new facilities will provide an even bigger recruiting boost
USC football is currently on a roll on the recruiting trail. With Chad Bowden and Lincoln Riley leading the way, the Trojans hold the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the 2026 cycle, and do not appear to be showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.
Believe it or not, however, Riley and Bowden might soon have yet another recruiting weapon to use: the team’s facilities. USC’s current facilities, while fine, are somewhat dated. However, construction is currently underway on a brand new football performance center, which is expected to open next summer, ahead of the 2026 season.
In a story on Monday, Tom Loy of 247Sports detailed how the Trojans are hoping that their new facilities will boost recruiting even more.
“The Bloom Football Performance Center is expected to open during the summer, just prior to kickoff of the 2026 football season,” Loy wrote. “This facility will be three stories and roughly 160,000 square feet. It will include two full-length practice fields, one grass and one turf, a massive weight room with, as one source called it, ‘all of the bells and whistles’. That will include direct access to the fields from the weight room, which is one of the most underrated aspects of the entire facility. It will house hydrotherapy and recovery pools, an auditorium for the entire football team, 12 position-specific meeting rooms, fueling and nutrition stations, a sports science space, lounges for current players and recruits, which include indoor and outdoor spaces, basketball and pickleball courts, and a terrace for recruits and their families to watch practice.
“As a whole, the new facility is triple the size of the current football facility. It will be a potential game changer for a program and university that has everything except an adequate space for a high-level football program. The expectation is that it takes player development, recovery, recruiting, and overall football operations to a new level.
“As it stands now, with the current setup, USC has still managed to land the No. 1 recruiting class in 2026 according to 247Sports. It's clear that the staff is targeting the right individuals, ones more focused USC as a whole, rather than the glitz and glamour of facilities. When you combine living in California, especially Los Angeles, with a tremendous operation when it comes to NIL and roster management, along with a loaded recruiting and personnel department, and a veteran, experienced coaching staff, you're going to achieve great things. All that has been missing are proper facilities. It's clear this is what head coach Lincoln Riley envisioned when he took this job back in 2021.”
If Loy’s prediction is accurate, the new facilities will only help the Trojans on the recruiting trail even further. The thought of that will certainly make USC fans excited as the program looks to further bring itself into the modern era of the college football arms race.
