USC women's basketball star Kennedy Smith wins FIBA AmeriCup with Team USA

Last week, USC women's basketball rising sophomore Kennedy Smith headed to the FIBA AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile with Team USA. The American team, which consisted of some of the top women's college basketball players in the country, squared off against other countries from North and South America.

On Sunday, the United States defeated Brazil 92-84 in the championship game. With the U.S. winning the title, Smith will return home from Chile as a gold medalist.

Smith played 15:30 in the championship game, but did not record any points, rebounds, or assists. Her best performance of the tournament came in the group phase against Mexico, when she scored 10 points.

With the AmeriCup in the books, Smith will now return home to the United States. Her focus will now shift to the upcoming Trojan season. She knows she needs to step up as one of the leaders of a USC team that will likely be without superstar Juju Watkins for much of next season.
