Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia takes out baseball coach Tim Corbin on celebration leap

Vanderbilt football quarterback Diego Pavia hasn't been shy about having fun on the Commodores' sidelines this year.

The 6-foot quarterback tried to get Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin involved in his latest celebration on Saturday, Sept. 27 — though it didn't work out exactly as Pavia may have envisioned, as Corbin lost his balance and fell to the ground.

While it's uncertain based on the video when the celebration happened, Pavia and Vanderbilt had plenty to celebrate on Sept. 27, as the Commodores closed out their nonconference slate with a convincing 55-35 win over Utah State at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville.

Pavia put together one of his best performances with the Commodores in the win, as he finished with six total touchdowns — marking a new career-high for his time at Vanderbilt. He completed 26 of 34 passes for 321 yards and five passing touchdowns, tying a Vanderbilt single-game program record. He also rushed nine times for 79 yards and another score.

The veteran quarterback has now thrown for at least 250 yards in three games this season, two of which have come in the last two weeks against Georgia State and Utah State. Following Saturday's win over the Aggies, Pavia has thrown for 890 yards and eight touchdowns, while having completed 73.9% of his passes.

The Commodores moved to 5-0 on the season with the win, the first time the Commodores have reached that mark since 2008. With the win, Vanderbilt and Pavia also swept all four of their nonconference games this season, outscoring their four opponents 214-79.

Vanderbilt returns to SEC play next week with a trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face No. 16 Alabama at 2:30 p.m. CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
