Veteran Michigan State offensive lineman to enter transfer portal

Michigan State football will be undergoing massive roster transformations in the coming weeks with the transfer portal getting ready to kick off on Jan. 2. The latest defection from the Spartans roster comes on the offensive line.

Cooper Terpstra, a former walk-on from Holland (MI), will be entering the transfer portal, he announced via X.

A 6-foot-4, 315 pound interior offensive lineman, Terpstra only got action in one game this season, the finale against Maryland. Terpstra started at center in the game in place of Matt Gulbin, and he did a magnificent job. Playing all 71 snaps, he registered an outstanding 79.6 grade in run blocking, 61.8 in pass blocking and a 74.8 overall grade according to PFF. Needless to say, it was a great outing that Terpstra put on film.

After that outing, it felt as if Terpstra could have been in contention to compete for a starting position, but now, he certainly has set himself up to get a starting gig. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
